A small selection of travel sketches. Traveled extensively through most of Europe and through Japan, and the US, of course, up and down the east coast mostly, though not solely. It is/was the best way to learn. (Hope to go to South America soon/next!)

Sketching used as a means of observation and self-education. For me, the "accuracy" or "realism" depicted in a sketch is not really relevant and hardly the means to an end. I believe that the purpose of drawing is to spend time really looking at something, which leads to a better understanding of that object, place, or person. (Yes, I really think it does!) This holds true much more than with photography, because you are concentrating on the subject for a longer amount of time.
